ImageOfTheChild.org documents the research of Chris Borst.
From 2006 to 2020, Chris was an analyst with the Performance, Planning & Evaluation team in the Children's Services & Neighbourhood Development division of the City of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. In 2020, he got the opportunity to pursue further graduate studies at McGill University in Montreal, where he studied Digital Humanities and is now a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology.
The idea - taught to us by Reggio Emilia and the reconceptualist current in early childhood education - that all evaluation, like all teaching, begins with "our image of the child" had fascinated and nagged at him for years. Most particularly, it bothered him that there were literally thousands of articles that spoke about images of children, but there seemed to be no standard classification that considered more than two or three possibilities - when there were clearly hundreds. So, he thought it worthwhile to try to offer one.
